What effect does the Tide and location have on the distribution of Marine Organisms?
Purpose: To further our understanding of Marine Life and explore the relationship between tide, geographic location and the organisms distribution. We were also interested in what creates the tide and how we can predict when and what the high and low tides will be.
Hypothesis: The location of the organisms will depend on how well they have evolved for their location. They will have to have specific traits to survive at different locations in the intertidal zone and strong currents created by the tides. We think that if the land is steeper and narrower (like Pedder Bay) the tidal zones will be higher because the tide comes up farther, as opposed to an open area (such as Wiers beach) where the zones will be narrower.
